Should I take multivitamins?

I'm not exactly a body building fanatic, but i do go to the gym every other day to do some weight lifting and about 20 minutes on the treadmill. I eat decent types of food I guess, certainly getting greens as well as meat , half/half white/brown. Should i still take multivitamins though? For health and well being...

If your getting a proper healthy and nutritionous diet theres no need to waste your money on vitamins or supplements.

Taking the multivitamins couldn't hurt really. While I don't know much about the differences between different brands or anything, Men's Health Magazine recommends Centrum Silver.

It is highly unlikely that you are getting all the nutrients/vitamins (to make up the RDA) you need from food alone so vitamins are not a waste of money as suggested but necessary. They are also low cost. Don't forget that processed foods and cooking takes its toll on the nutritional value of food.

DUM DUM DUM DUM DUM - Beats tribal drum to support vitamins.

i dont know where you live our your lifestyle - whether you literally live in a tribe. But consuming a healthy diet will usually satisfy the recommendations

Haha Haha For the vast majority of us who do not live in the Garden of Eden or wherever you live where people's diets provide 100% vitamins, minerals and all required nutrients (not to mention processing/cooking wastages), then vitamins are required.

I would like to see a sample of such a diet - considering that many here are at caloric diet deficits and show how the RDA is fulfilled on food alone.

I think for most people multivitamins are a good idea. I track my food intake of fitday and I eat what I consider a very healthy and balanced diet, but it alone doesn't meet all my vitamin and mineral recommendations

TRIBAL - I am absolutely disgusted at your support of the SUPPLIMENT vitamins. Peepoll shouldn't tack suppliments bcuz they ruin your body and make you look like

HULK

Peepoll like that r disgusting!
Haha! Haha! Now Derwyddon dear I know you have a crush on me but you've gota finish school. *Blushes are not in the same class as creatine or steroids.

vitamins r 2 a supplamint. they supplamint ur diet. so iz cod fish oil which u take 2
Is that you Derwyddon or has someone stolen your nick when you left your computer on? If I lived in the Garden of Edden or if my food provided my RDA of minerals and vitamins, I wouldn't need to take any vitamins would I?

To the op - spending lots of money on GNC vitamins or some other overpriced brand is most likely not worth it. However, a decent multivitamin isn't really going to hurt either.

If you keep track of your food intake (there are several free sites that do this), you can get a pretty good picture of the nutrients you are getting (or lacking) in your diet.

LMAO, you don't don't want to go near that dangerous creatine!! I seriously hope you only paired those two together to wind people up
CCR you have an appointment at since you cannot even remember names according to some other poster.

Honestly, I hate the "supplements" world we live in. It seems like everyday someone comes on this forum thinks they *must* take supplements in order to even be considered "healthy." Don't waste your money on expensive supplements. Most of them are either bogus or not really needed. Supplements are just that - supplements to your food source. Not really needed, but for certain people, it is.

Taking multi will not hurt you in any way. It's really a hit or miss when you buy one. If you are already getting enough micro nutrition from food source, then taking multi will just be a waste of time. Store brands are better, if not equal, to name brands. I agree GNC is a waste of money, but other stores, such as your local NEX, Walgreens, etc have store brands that are just as good. Just read the labels and ingredients along side one of the commercial brands and most of the time they're the same thing.

To be honest, I recommend *not* taking multi unless you are cutting or on a specific diet ordered by a diet. Cutting, or "losing weight," means you are not eating enough food so it wouldn't hurt to take a multi to ensure you are getting your daily supply.

Geez, I can't believe how much opposition you got. Take a quality multi, it will do nothing much good. Take it in the morning with food. Food ain't what it used to be and anyone who doesn't get that has their head stuck in the sand.

For dinner i guess its rice/vegis/chicken/fish

im sorta absent minded when it comes to eating fruits and drinking milk, and its winter too.. i unno

naa but you can have a look at the food pyramid if you like.
So you think mother nature wasnt behaving and made us wait
thousands of years until we could produce multivitamins that allowed us to get all the nutrients we needed.

Can you post a direct link with that links own assertion that it meets all vitamin/mineral/nutrient RDA? matt182, I thought you were learned if not educated, or are you educated but not learned?
