Should I look for a new Job?

My work is great...my boss and co-workers and even our clients kick ass...the pay is decent considering the education I have, but after 5 years of this **** it's getting old real fast.

I am in charge of our inventory and every aspects of it...purchasing/shipping/receiving...also am in charge of the computer network and am also the most adept with our point of sale and inventory software which makes me the guy to goto for ANY and almost ALL problems that arises with the computers, inventory or clients...

I love doing many things at once, it can be stressful at times but I work through it and enjoy being able to do these things...but man, I am bored out of my mind now...there are not any advancement opportunities for me in this company aside from a yearly raise...I am writing this from work at the moment, shame on me...but idc...I feel sick with boredom.

Do I need a new job or just a long vacation?

both...maybe?

Any similar experiences anyone?

Someone throw me a rope...lol.

buhbye

I don't know how the economy is in Canuck Land but here its horrible and we are all in a holding pattern. Worried about whether or not we will have a job from one day to the next.

So I would say no just deal with it. Took me a while to adjust to the uncertainty but I'm cool with it now.

The Mighty Kraken hath spoken.

Maybe you can search for more opportunities while you work. It will seem like you are wasting more time, but if you find something better you can make the transition easier by not risking your finances now.

/agree

As I work in purchasing I can tell you that the economy is INSANE over here. It's like we are driving to work on an unfinished road with nitroglycerin in the trunk.

You just don't know if you will make it to the next stop.

Then I would suck it up and be thankful you still have a job.

I been sucking it up for a few years now. I can suck it up some more...but boredom is having it's toll on me in a very negative way lately and I don't like that, especially when it transfers itself into my personal life, and it is.

I have one week of vacation left. I think I'm due. I need to get my passport and fly 10 hours away from this place and de-wind...or re-wind rather.

:)

Yup! What's sup? Now, suck it up!

Then when you are done with this fun, do not be outdone, while you have this job won, look for a better one.

You will thank yourself a ton in the long run.......

Now, I run......

Best wishes

The problem with jobs is it gets boring after a while. Don't stress out. Just have a goal in mind and you'll be fine. Best not to focus too much on your job. Try to do other things outside of work: like take other routes, call in sick sometimes, etc, etc.

If you have a skill set from this job maybe you could slowly cut back your hours while advancing your own private company.

You could be a contractor to to inventory computer networks etc? Its a bit of a grand idea but you could start off small and have a little hobby going that could make you some money.

i agree with kraken. stick with your job. the economy sucks right now. i switched to a new job and got laid off the new job after three months of working there b/c business never picked up, so now i'm unemployed and it sucks. stay where you are at least until things get better. i wouldn't take any chances.

Why dont you keep the job for now, but start looking at new opportunities which may be better than your current job.

Or you could be a male escort. (Providing your as good looking as me)

I moonlight as a Gigilo myself. Business is booming.

Good advice. ALL jobs lose their luster after awhile, I usually find 3 years is my time to start getting bored. Try finding a hobby outside of work that you will look forward to doing.

Also, you're handling the computer network and that's great!! You may be able to jump into that area for a career.

Good Luck!

What a co-incidence...last night an old co-worker who is no longer with us called me up and told me he had an opportunity for me. I would have managed an inventory and possibly do all the stuff I do here but in a different field - mechanics...I turned it down but now I'm kind of thinking about it...I've always wanted to learn about mechanics...hrmmmmmmm.....

If it seems like a good oppurtunity don't let it pass you by.
