Sport Should I avoid eating rice for dinner?

Sport Fitness
I just started out working out and exercising recently and I'm just wondering if I should be avoiding white rice for dinner(around 5:30) which my mom pretty much makes EVERY night and concentrate more on the vegetables/meat side dishes? My goal is to lose fat.
Also, can anyone suggest some good breakfast ideas for my fat loss goal? I currently eat cereal(frosted mini wheats or raisin bran with a piece of fruit)

i might have to disagree with that.
what happens is, is that carb give us energy, because ur body starts moving, basically being active it uses the sugar in ur body. breakfast should always consist of carbs because as u go through the day ur body will use more and more. at night u shouldn't eat carbs or not alot of carbs because well u goin to sleep soon no point of haven't sugar if ur not going to use the energy.

You need carbs, bread and rice its needed even for weight loss. Now as far as your specfic question, basically this depends. Is that the last meal of the night for you? If so then stick to the veggies. Are you doing anything physcial after you eat it? Well then having it wouldn't be so bad, because you wont be sitting and storing. You want to try and get your more starchy carbs in the early/middle day so that you have plenty of energy from the food but give you time to burn it off as well.

I eat dinner around 530 and then i eat another small snack again around 830 and I jog at around 10 and go to sleep at around 1am.
thanks for the input so far!

i only eat carbs once a day, and it;s usually (but not always) white noodles, rice, etc.

eat a small amount, it'll be fine.
