Shipping to Army infantry basic in 3.5 months...p90x or Crossfit?

Hey guys...new to the forums...

Well, i am shipping out to Ft. Benning, GA in July for basic and infantry training for the US Army and I want to prepare myself to be able to excel at the top of my class.

I am in decent shape...I'm currently 6'2 and 183. My leg muscles are the majority of my weight as I played soccer a lot, and have bigger bones. My problem is my upper body and stomach fat/flab. My stomach is the worst...It is "slim" in a way, but its all flab and I need it to be strong! I can bust out about 70-80 Marine style crunches (I know, because I did those in the recruiters office a few weeks ago), but my pushups are low and I cannot do one dead-hang pull-up. So, I definitely need some work because that won't fly in infantry training.

I looked up results of before and after of P90x on youtube and it blew me away. The downside is...its all personal motivation. Now crossfit seems more built for endurance than getting ripped...I may be wrong though I don't know.

I only have until July 13th (109 days), and I want to get started ASAP. I know p90x is 90 days so that makes that feasible, but I don't know if that would be a better option than crossfit...and is crossfit good enough to get me in as good as shape as p90x could in the same amount of time? Thanks.

I think either one would be good. But i think crossfit might be better. Thinking back to my time served (Australian Army), i would have done more strength and heeps more endurance.
What training aids do you have excess too?
Rope climbing? ---did alot of that in infantry training. If you can get that sorted its a good head start.
Pack marching/running--Go to an Army surplus store get a backpack load it up, no less than 20kgs to start with. Get used to walking a couple of miles....or more :)
What ever program you end up doing make sure it covers :
push-ups, sit-ups, pull-ups and a minimum 2 mile run as quick as you can.

A Great site to check out is: All 3 W's .military.com/military-fitness/army-fitness-requirements/army-basic-training-pft

Sorry carn't post direct links yet...need more posts. The above site has plenty of info about all types of military fitness requirements.

PS- you dont wanna be "ripped" before joining, the PTI's will work your arse off, so you'll need a bit of fat to spare, if you know what i mean......

Good Luck mate!
