Shaving the Chest

Hi there.

I am 27. I have got NOT MANY hairs on my chest but still there are. They goes in between the Chest until the tammy. Then there are a few hairs on the nipples as well.

I wanna know that is it ok to shave my chest, or can i use a Hair Trimmer to cut down the hairs? Because i have heard if i shave the chest i have to shave it regularly

You can shave your chest, but it may cause irritation. I use a trimmer instead. It will not cause the hair to grow back thicker, or faster.

main reason you ahve to trim regularly is that it itches like hell as it grows in. 10x worse than neck hair because your shirt will constantly irritate it.

i'd actually go with an at-home waxing kit. even the 'cold wax' systems like NADS work, but expect to bleed a little bit.

i razor mine because i get tattoo'd on my chest regularly, and I don't like having just one patch shaved clean.

It doesn't grow back denser or thicker in my opinion.

I was researching a while back about "thicker hair" when you shave mainly because I'm bald and was thinking about shaving my head to make it come out thicker.

Anyway, it's a false myth that your hair grows thicker. The thing is when you shave, the same hair comes out at a different angle which gives it the illusion that it's thicker. So shave away! Or if you want to, you can dye your hair blond and make it harder to notice from a distance.

thanks for the replies.

Somebody advised me to use shave gel, he says that i need to use that gel and then wash out the body with water, no shave , no itching, no nothing, is it true?

A dipilatory cream...yeah those can work but if you have sensitive skin it can be pretty painful.

Not to mention that washing something off your chest is going to make it drip down to your nether regions, and that would be QUITE unpleasant a sensation.

Waxing does make the hair come back a bit thinner due to the fact you're ripping the hair out at the root, so over time it apparently weakens the hair that grows from the follicle.

It's not that it comes out at a different angle, but it's a flat surface instead of a smooth and/or round one that causes it to be more noticable and give the effect of "coming in thicker and/or darker."

I personally prefer using a trimmer over shaving. It does rub on shirts and get irritated, but it's not as big a deal if you miss a spot when trimming as opposed to shaving.

If you wanna shave, I would suggest gel over creams all the way around, but do be ready to do it fairly regularly.

LOL...once a month...

try weekly if you want it to look cleanly shaved. chest hair is gonna grow as fast as your facial hair, and I doubt you can go a week between shaves and only look like you have a 5 oclock shadow.

give it a go, but shaving body parts and keeping them 'clean' looking is a commitment.

I have to shave my head every other day (yes, 3 to 4 times a week) or everything starts sticking to it like velcro, and after 4 days its hard to razor and I have to get clippers to sheer it down, then razor it.

thats why i started this thread, so that i get opinions of people shaving their chest.

What about the Hair removal GEL?? If i use that, do i need to use that with the same frequency as i have to shave?

I can't grow hair anywhere.

some native american runs in my family.

I just spotted some; you have these things that look like hairy caterpillars just above each eye, it must be pretty hard to see up there which might be why you didn't notice them before. :)
