Shaking hands... (handshakes)

I've wanted to ask this for some time now... How do you guys shake hands with other guys? With most of my friends it's a solid hard shake. Same with older guys, like dads (of friends) - it's always a hard firm shake. But this one time I was out on tech support with this fellow, and he had this weak, girly, handshake... He wasn't even trying - funny part; the first time I shook his hand I WAS trying, hehe crushed his fingers a bit. :D

As far as business situations with the opposite sex, it's always a simple gentle shake...

Some men have whats known as "the wet fish" all handshakes should be frim but not to firm in my opinion

I follow the lead of the other person. This is not to say that I will shake hands very lightly with a person but I won't crush their hand if they're not shaking with pride.

haha.. funny thread. I guess it totally depends on the person the hand I'm shaking belongs to. And the circumstances as well as the way I feel. Can be anything between crushing and soft, gentle flowery touching :D

You need to see Jerry Seinfeld's piece on handshaking.

I always go firm enough for the other person to know I am shaking firmly, while not crusing their hand. Although I will have to try hard for those who crush my hand and I feel I need to return the favor.

For any male that I don't know and am meeting it is as firm as I can because I feel it's revealing some character. When I was maybe 11 or 12 a cop my dad introduced me too shook my hand really hard so I followed and did the same. He was taken back and was like 'you have a strong handshake, I like that'. So ever since then I've been doing that. With friends I have different handshakes different for each group I hang out with.

For women it's a different situation. Depending on who the person is I'll either 1) not go all the way up the hand, just fingers, and give a nice gentle one.
2) if it's some like important woman that's all 'im tough and important' I do a regular one without the strength.
3) I have done this where I've taken the girl's hand and bent and kissed it lol.

hahaha thats so corny..

My buddy who's father is a cop taught me this. You can have a firm handshake but this is a lil method where it will prevent your own hands gettin crushed. (I got polar bear palms so people with small fingers and hands here it is)

going for the handshake you stick out your index finger.. not outwards but you don't use that finger for the handshake. So in the motion of a handshake your index finger should be resting along the opposites wrist. No matter how hard someone squeezes your hand it will not crush, hurt, pinch, tickle or nothing.

Good trick when meeting your girlsfriends dad and he wants to be hott ****.. but oh noooo it won't work he's lost in his own imagination of why is this kids hand not shrinkin.. Then you give him the half crack smile.. like ohh yeah you aignt got nothing own me. :D
