Shakes that make you feel "bad"

Just wondered if anyone else feels abnormally bloated/full/yucky after drinking a normal protein shake with ice. I don't put milk in my shakes, make them with water and I use Syntha-6 adding a Tbsp of flax meal. The shake itself with the flax is only 250 calories but I feel like I've had a VERY large meal after drinking one. Supplementing with shakes is just realistic for my lifestyle and training schedule but I do find it odd that that few of calories make me feel like that. I have tried many shakes so its not the actual brand or anything, just blended stuff in general. Anyone else have this issue

maybe try a different brand of shake? not all protein is created equal. does syntha-6 have soy protein in it? casein? egg? whey?

It has Whey, egg and Casein, no soy. I find this with shakes in general. Mainly if I put ice in them I seriously can't get hungry within 3 hours. SO yes the obvious "don't put ice in them". Of course, but at the end of the day I still feel like they are so heavy in my gut. I was reading up on the velocity diet some people are doing for rapid results...I can't even imagine 5-6 shakes a day. How would someone fit all that in and actually lose weight. The more shakes I supplement with, the more I seem to gain weight, even if I stay in my normal caloric range. I don't get it.

If it doesn't matter what is in the shake, then it is how you are mixing the shake. Do you let it settle? If you let it get real foamy and then drink it up, you will feel like a bowling ball got dropped in your stomach. If you blend your shakes or shake them aggressively this could be the problem. Next time try drinking it with a straw and let it settle a little.

Also another factor is how high of a protein diet you have and your enzyme function. If you are low carb/high protein but don't have enough enzymes to break it down it will lead to this problem. Best answer to this is to re-feed on carbs properly, but if that isn't an option then getting a solid enzymes capsule to take with your meals would be next best thing. I recommend udo's enzyme blend.

the 5-6 shakes on velocity isn't many calories, some people get full with the shakes...but I was starving pretty much nonstop for a month when I did it. But I did go from a pretty heavy surplus (of calories) to a significant deficit, which I shouldn't have done, I didn't lose any strength though, and I lost a good amount of body fat

I hate shakes with water.. i've only had a shake with water once and it made me feel like throwing up..i only use milk now

i do my shakes with milk or water, sometimes some ice, and my PWO has dextrose in it. shaken, and with a blender...never bothers me.

i never feel full from any shake, not even weight gainers. if there's casien in it, then I at least don't feel like I'm starving in 20 minutes.
