Sport Shakes, Gym ? ?

Hi all,
My gym offer skakes and all kinds of food fot the clients. Shakes are made "for" recovery, performance, law carb.
The recovery shake for example is,(Berries Amore) Rasberry, Blackberry,Blueberry,Stawberry,Banana, purree'd. What will this do for me after a workout, it sure seems like it would hit the spot at that time.
The perfomance shake might be, (Cardio Freeway) including, Soy milk,Low fat Vanilla cream,Soy Protien,Flax seed oil, Honey. How are these ingredients helpfull to working out.

Also I need recommendations on a Nutrition book that is geared towards someone who worksout and is trying to eat right....

general rule of thumb on macronutrients and working out. Carbohydrates before (energy during workout), protein afterwards (recovery). I would check the macronutrients in the shakes. I'd assume the recovery shake would be loaded with whey protein and some carbs. The energy drink is probably simple carbohydrates for a quick energy boost.
