Sex Drive...for women.

My drive is the same.

Just more physically and appropriately driven.

I havent noticed any change on this subject, since my teens. Its just as strong now as it was then. Some my age cannot say this. Therefore, if diet and fitness (since I lost 30 pounds, and revamped my entire bodily composition by a LARGE margin) is maintaining my potential then this is obviously a bonus I will accept.

Best wishes

Well I'm not a woman but since I've dropped my bf% mine went through the roof. WAY higher than its ever been.

I'm going to link my wife to this thread once we get a few more responses. LOL

Any positive change in physical/emotional/spiritual health will result in a boost in libido. Our sexual organs are just like any other body part, the healthier we are, the better they function.

I read a great book about diet/nutrition and sex drive. It's called "The Orgasmic Diet". Some of the stuff was good, and based on science. One thing that it calls for is a lot of fish oil. Fish oil is supposed to promote cardiovascular health by increasing blood flow. If there is more blood flow to the genitals, arousal is easier. The easier it is to get aroused, the more time you spend thinking about sexual things.

To go off on a spiritual tangent, we are all sexual beings by nature. Our sexual health represents our health as a whole and complete individual. It cannot be separated, though some may try, from our sense of self. Chances are, if you are not taking care of your sexual health, your physical or emotional health may suffer. It works the other way around. If you're eating a bunch of artery clogging junk and don't have adequate blood flow to the genital region, your sexual health will suffer.

You can also look at hormone levels. Testosterone does increase libido, that's a fact. If you're eating healthy and avoiding things that lower T levels then your libido will probably be higher. Men have a distinct advantage in that department in the fact that they produce more testosterone than women, but women can do a lot to increase free testosterone levels. Building muscle is one thing, and avoiding things that raise SHBG levels such as soy and hormonal birth control.

One thing that I notice is when I'm taking better care of myself and eating enough, I get a huge boost in libido and orgasmic ability. It's quite nice most of the time.

Women who exercise regularly do experience an increase in sex drive; however, a woman who overexercises will experience a decrease in sex drive compared to a woman who is starving herself.

I was at the "Bodies" exhibit in Manhattan Saturday and they had a small section on it.

i think male responses should be deleted, unless they are talking about their spouses/partners. :(

for the record - 26 lbs lost - no discernble change

Actually my sex drive increased after I gained weight.

That's what I'm expecting to have happen to me. I've already noticed since I increased my caloric intake, I've been experiencing a lot more arousal. I've increased my saturated fat intake a lot, so that may have something to do with it. I used to barely eat any, now I'm eating more. I could be making normal levels of testosterone now.

I think sex drive correlates to your total level of health. If you're underweight, it's likely to be low and if you're severely overweight it's also likely to be low. It's the basic defense mechanism. The sex drive is the first thing to go when the body is under stress. Why procreate when the body is in danger? I would think, however, that this is more likely to happen with underweight individuals than with overweight individuals.

Yes.

I have heard this to be true. More so than if you lose weight, but I experienced the opposite. I wondered if it was normal. I'm reading up on it. I think maybe the foods you eat contribute?

This sounds to be the most plausible idea.

Good for you!

I think that you have taken care of yourself very well then :)

I know that when my partner feels good about herself she feels more driven sexually. As a swimmer her weight goes up and down quite a bit and it has quite an effect on her self esteem. No matter how much I say I love her just the way she is it still has an affect. She says stuff like "I feel gross" etc.

I think from what I can gather it is mainly an esteem issue with my partner. If she feels better about herself and her image she has increased libido and if she doesnt feel so good about it then decreased libido.

Hmmm...

Yes; women like to feel sexy...
I had something a lil' different in libido change; out of the blue- without needing to feel sexy.

If you're interested in foods and sex drive I would definitely recommend that book I mentioned earlier, "The Orgasmic Diet". It's not really a weight loss diet, but it requires you to eat at least an ounce of dark chocolate a day. Most of what I learned about the subject came from that book. It was an entertaining read.

Sorry, Jove.
