Semi home made pizza?

Can you guys tell me if pizza home made is exactly good for you or not?

Say going to costco and buying the made bread that comes with the sauce, then grating on your own cheese and putting on some mushrooms and skinless boneless chicken breast.

Also how good/bad are hot dogs for you? Can I put them on my pizza or is it just too bad for you?

I wouldnt think the pizza would be good for you but im not sure. The dough probably has alot of calories but it might be alright if you use fatfree cheese. The sause may also be high in calories plus add on the chicken breast and thats even more calories it all adds up unfortunatly. I dont think hotdogs are good for you the kind we have in the house are something like 10 or 12 grams of saturated fat and all kinds of bad stuff. You may be able to find a fatfree/low cal hotdog though.

get a turkey dog, those may be fat free, or atleast more lean than a hotdog. but yeah, about the pizza, i wouldnt eat pizza on my diet. not even homemade, or any type of pizza. they say 1 pizza a week is good for prostate, and i guess it could be a balanced meal, but not a choice of mine.

Nick: I want calories, I'm trying to gain weight but more in muscle mass than in fat, so calories are ok.

Corple: I wouldnt eat "lean turkey dogs" :-/

I wouldnt eat it a whole lot, but to mix it up 2 days or something a week for dinner.

if you love it or crave it,you shouldn't deny yourself it. just make it healthier. why not make your own whole wheat crust...and add tons of veggies rather than so much meat or cheese. i can give you an easy crust recipe if you can't buy a whole wheat crust somewhere.

Dont like onions/tomatoes or the works... :(

Also for the crust, I wouldnt know where to buy it and I have never baked my own bread before, we always just buy the bread from stores

check out subway, subway is almost like a pizza except a sub. get the whole wheat though. chicken sub. just pick off what you dont like. or better yet, dont ask them to put it on your sub

I agree with LiveFromNY. A great cheese offering is Sargento's reduced fat. It's the best tasting and melts evenly unlike all other low fat cheeses. Other than that, make a personal sized pizza and don't add too much junk. Every so often I crave a Tai Chicken Pizza.

I guess I'll drop pizza, its not much of a craving at all, just something to eat, fill calories, and a spot of the day (dinner). Thanks for the help guys :)
