i was just curious to know how many of you have a sedentary job?

i do. and i sit at a desk for 40 hours out of a week. ugh! i try to move around as much as i can and take walks on lunch break, sneak in some jumping jacks, and stuff to make it somewhat better. just curious to see how many others out there have it like i do.

i wish mentally and physically i could feel better about it. what do you guys do to feel better about it? i workout 4-5 days per week, but when i think about how many hours i sit on my butt, it still bothers me....LOL!

please share your thoughts and suggestions.

some have given me some ideas in another thread to try to keep moving during work and it has helped, but i'd like to hear how others also feel about it and how your jobs are, if similar and how you deal with it.

I sit on my arse all day too, about 40 hours a week, Mon-Fri :(
Not sure what to suggest, I hit the gym every lunch time but the hours sat here are demoralizing. If you have any tips on how to stay active and alert then please share them as I’m a bit stuck, I just try and make as many trips to the toilet and water cooler as possible

One day I’m going to break out of these chains and become a Lumberjack

I too sit on my but at work-literally! I drive a bus and there is no way to move at all unless pushing the door open switch counts..However, like you, I jogg 5x per week and strenth train 3x per week to keep me motivated! Also, in the am when I have a few minutes before going out, I always stand up and do few squats just to keep moving...Another neat tip, I substitute the usual am coffee for my bottle of water...Everytime I take a drink or look at it-it reminds of what I am trying to accomplish!!!!

good luck and stay focused-it will work out..

Me too... me too... complete with the ball & chain tether ..LOL

I do take the stairs... 15 flights. Takes about 4 min to go up which isn't too shabby.. :)

Plus I have an exercise ball @ my desk (which we've discussed before) and it helps with posture and abs and stretching.

Something else I did was to remove ALL FOOD from my desk area. When I was heavy, I used to keep munch stuff around which led to the demise of my waistline. (Chocolate was the stress remedy...)

Since I made the decision to get healthy and stay healthy - the food had to go. Even the healthy stuff!! Overeating is just as bad and it's too tempting to reach over for a "pacifier" and can quickly undermine what we're trying to accomplish.

The only thing I keep close all the time is water.

We are resourceful women...I'm sure we'll find a way to combat the widening of the hip/butt area... but not too much... I don't like looking like a stick..LOL I'm a girl. I like my healthy, curvy girl parts :D hahahaha

I work at a desk all day too.

I walk, or ride a bike to work.

I get out and walk for a break too.
