seated OH press vs standing OH press

westside advocates the seated press from a pin at chin level. what i am wondering is why, and what the benefits are from doing a seated press vs a standing press.

i mean, it makes more sense to press while standing right? when in real life do you have to sit down and push something above the head?

thanks

well, how often do you stand and push heavy stuff over your head IRL? I never do :p

standing is more stabilization of the core, but pretty much everyone cheats by arching their back. Personally i sit and use DBs.. I even use back support, but that's because without it I'll just start to cheat and I just want to hit my delts without messing up my already injured back.

idk, lol but im standing whenever im working...well, more than im sitting :p

il probably give the seated press a good fair chance, especiall since westside says to....they are a pretty reliable authority.

and il probably throw in some seated db presses like you said after a core exercise for bench day, do it for higher reps : ]
good idea
