To hell with excessive diets and workouts - its a waste of time and money

I am writing this because I feel that it will be useful to the majority of women, women like me.

Diets and exercise routines are 99% regurgitated useless information. Believe me, I know it's fun to Google and dream and plan and schedule but it is a waste of time.

Here is the secret: we know what is good and what is bad by now, we know what the right balance is. We have scrolled and trolled enough sites. Stop right now, or read those faddy diets just to get a laugh - at the moment it's HITT and carb cycling..... So many different names, but they all share the same predictable traits. Don't waste your money.

OK fine, if you want to be a bodybuilder or a marathon runner or miss universe, a strict diet is necessary, but otherwise seriously, wise up!

We need to move and eat stuff that isn't shit the majority of the time.... That's pretty much it, since caveman days......

I am not a swimsuit model, I measure 1.73 meters and weigh 72 kg. I am curvy, and a bit soft here and there, some bits sag or jiggle a bit and I have 2 kids, but by doing things right the majority of the time, I manage my weight, and I feel that my body type is where it is naturally supposed to be.

I still secretly dream of having a skinny 90s twiggy body occasionally, who doesn't. But luckily curves have become trendy and I have grown wiser with age. Look at women through the ages, the large majority of us do not and are not MEANT to look like pubescent boys.

So let me tell you how to set yourself free.

You need to eat carbs! I am not talking chips and fritters, I am talking oats for breakfast or a sweet potato with supper. Refined grain like bread or pasta is not meant for every day eating.

Our bodies were not designed to eat all the mass produced, refined crap that large corporations are shoving down our throats. We know this.

You need to eat as much meat and veg as you possibly can, it's good for you. Fats and oils are good in smaller quantities too but try not to deep fry, or eat that saturated crap you find in refined and packaged food.

Personally, I use a bit of brown sugar in my coffee, and I love chocolate but don't overdo it. Fruit and honey are good. add sweetener if you really want.

Move! I like to sit and dream.... A lot.... but luckily I have 2 kids.... So it is not an option. We also have a restaurant, and that keeps us on our feet.

You don't need to run or gym every day or do stupid exercise videos (that is just feeding the monster), just keep busy. Walk or dance or garden, or throw your kid in the air. We are not Potatos. But screw spinning till you want to puke or waking up with muscles so sore you can't crouch without groaning. I hate the plank! Burpees are torture.

Lastly....we all have vices, hell I smoke (no judgment please, I know how awful it is) and I enjoy a glass of wine in the evening, which I try not to feel guilty about, because I enjoy it in the moment, even though I know it is not necessarily healthy in the long term. And then I also eat crap occasionally because I am human.

We all have vices, so if bad food is your vice, I can't really help because it's psychological, and even though you know it's bad, you don't have control.

If you have a medical condition, I also can't help. My mom has an underachieving thyroid, and I know what a struggle it is.

But if you are like me, and you are aging and you have a bit of a slow metabolism, and you like the taste of food then this a good way to live.

No fads, no schedules, no routines necessary. No calorie counting...

I do it by eating oats with fruit or nuts, or eggs and bacon if I have time, or even whole wheat toast and marmite or peanut butter or avo. Then we usually make enough supper to eat for lunch as well. I am not talking a full double meal.... Just whatever happens to be left over. Pick at it if you get hungry, simple.

Today I had a few nice buttery Brussel sprouts, honey glaze carrots, and a chicken sausage plus leftover apple from my daughters lunchbox. Then a block of dark chocolate with coffee. No need for extremes here ;)

Supper is majority protein and veg. Often carbs too, but we very seldom eat pasta or rice. There are so many more interesting and delicious choices out there.

I really hope this helps at least one woman out there xxx

P.S. I don't mean to make light of weight loss, I know it's a struggle. Just want to help.

I agree. EXCESSIVE diets and workouts are waste of time and money.
But dieting (healthy dieting, not restrictive diets) and excersizing is necessary to weight loss.
One of three biggest problems in weight loss is lack of knowledge: how to eat, what to eat and when to eat. It is the internet paradox: too many information will hide information that is correct.
So, in my oppinion, geting a nutricionist or a fitness coach who KNOW what they are doing, and CAN teach people about fitness and nutrition - is not waste of money. It is an investment in your future self. The skinny one.
