Scales That Work

Does any1 think this scale would be accurate...in order to see your body fat percentage you have to enter ur height, gender, and age, and than u stand on the scale and ur weight and body fat appears. I bought it and it seems accurate, wat do u think...it was 50 bucks...does ne1 have something similiar to this

compared to "skinfold" and "underwater" body fat % testing, the scale has its errors. and I would not seek it as a way to figure out your actual bf% as it is inaccurate in its own right, but you can spot a trend. Like measure your bf% today, and in 3 weeks, measure again, see if it went down.

true

yea thats what i was kinda thinkin cuz i put a ten pound weight on it and it said 10 pounds like the weight was correct and all but i think that body fat percentage would be a little differnt story

haha hilarious :p
i have one at home

it basically gives u your bf% based on "average" person at your height/weight lol
~ very generalized approach...

so wat is the best way to get ur body fat measured....and not usin calllipers cuz i dont have ne

go to the gym, get a skinfold test or go to a nearby university, they will give you an underwater body fat test , these are the most accurate of all the tests :] but it will cost you $1.50 or so. the gym ones are free though

cool

alright that sounds good thanks but one more thing on those scales that u and me have lol ik the body fat percent may be off but is the weight correct

lol of course the weight is correct, well depends

when u weigh urself, make sure to be consistent, if ur weighing urself "NUDE" , weigh urself like that all the time lol,

if u weigh urself wearing undies only or w/e , stay consistent!

A really skinny person can still have a higher body fat % than a larger person, even if the larger person isn't a body builder. If you are losing muscle weight, then it stands to reason that the percentage of your weight that is fat would get higher.

so basically ur saying if ur weight is goin down and ur body fat is increasing your most likely losing some muslce....how do u fix that?

even when tryin to get a 6 pack.....see i'm tryin to lose weight to get the 6 pack to stick out more with good cardio and dieting but i seem to be losing weight and my body fat keeps increasing

If you want your abs to stick out more use resistance training every other day to build muscle and burn fat. Do v-sits with a medicine ball or sit-ups and crunches holding a plate.

oh yeah-about the scale. I remeber when our wrestling team had to use one of those old school scales instead of the digital scales. The ones where you have to slide the thing across to get your accurate weight? That was a bitch. You also have to keep in mind that a wrestler can't be .1 pounds over his desired weight class in order to wrestle there. Nevertheless, the old school scales are still pretty accurate.

about the scale... the reason it asks you height & age is so that it can tell you based on what is medically recomended if you are under wieght... ok ... slightly obese or obese...

It may use the height and sex to help with the estimate...

Basically it measures how well you conduct electricity to determine an estimate of BF... so hydration is a major factor in your level of resistance...or ability to conduct electricity...

Anyways like I have stated before ... for those that are weight obsessed it is a good tool to tell you if weight loss is real... or just water loss...
