The Almond Board of California, which oversees virtually 100 percent of the almonds grown and consumed in the United States and Canada, is now implementing plans to pasteurize all almonds.
Well, it seems ABC now believes a "dead" (pasteurized) Almond is the SAME as a non Pasteurized almond. As they have concluded that Almonds can legally be labeled "RAW" even though they will cook them at temperatures starting at a 158Degrees(F) .
virtually all almonds you could ever hope to buy in the US will be nothing more then an empty nut. As the pasteurization process will deplete most if not all nutrients in the nuts.
So what once was a healthy snack is now nothing more then an empty calorie. Goodbye my beloved Almond butter ;(.
