sauna...

after a year of going to my gym, i found out we had a sauna. wuts the sauna do? lol
is it just a lazy way to lose water weight?(insted of running)

all I know is that I tried it today and I coudnt breath through my nose (it was burning n hurting) so I gave up and went to this other thing where you take a bath with no water (Steam Bathing)..its really relaxing ---->

anyway sauna has its benefits..I did some research cuz I was lost myself and ppl said good things bout it here

Many non-sauna users are unaware of some Sauna Secrets, such as:

Shaving with a Trac type razor when profusely sweating in a Sauna yields an incredibly smooth result, without the use of gels or foams. This is equally true for your face and legs.

Cold Relief... Temporary relief from head or chest colds can be obtained in the Sauna. Simply pouring some essence of Eucalyptus (a natural substance) in a ladle of water onto the Sauna rocks yields a fragrant and medicinal burst of steam. Sinus and chest passages often respond favourably with improved breathing.

Socializing... Sharing a Sauna session with friends can be a great way to spend an hour or so in relaxed conversation!

Deep skin cleansing... Due to the open and closing cycle during heating and cooling phases, the Sauna helps to clean your pores deeply and thoroughly.

Take the chill out of winter! The Sauna can provide a psychological lift on a very cold winter day, when you just can't seem to get warm. This is especially useful if you're from the Great White North, like us, Eh?

Take a nap... The Sauna is a great place to have a brief nap, especially when the temperature is set relatively low, at 40° to 60°C.

Can't sleep? Well, take advantage of Sauna's relaxing effect by going to sleep after a regular Sauna Session. The Sauna will leave you in a peaceful, relaxed state, and you will probably find it much easier to doze off.

Your metabolism and pulse rates increase, your blood vessels become much more flexible, and your extremities benefit from increased circulation. Physical fitness fans will recognize that some of these changes can also be achieved through strenuous exercise. Not to say that a sauna would put you in excellent physical condition without moving a muscle (don't some of us wish!), but that it brings about the same metabolic results as physical exercise

CURIOUS FACTS -
Both sauna baths and steam baths stimulate circulation and respiration, reduce muscular tension and cleanse and rejuvinate the skin and body through perspiration.

We have heard that a heavy cigarette smoker can actually leave a brown stain on a white towel as they perspire toxins from their body in a sauna. LOL

The benefits of sauna and steam bathing have been known to almost all of human civilization for eons.

I personally love Steam Bathing :) the fragrance in the room is also very nice

Steam baths are good for:

* easing stress
* relieving muscle tensions and stiff joints
* boosting the immune system
* lymph detoxification
* stimulating circulation
* increasing body metabolism
* alleviating sinus congestion due to colds, asthma, or allergies, and
* keeping skin youthful.

What can steam heat do?

* Steam heat increases the extensibility of tissues.
* Steam heat decreases rigidity in joints.
* Steam heat reduces muscle spasm.
* Steam heat can decrease muscular pain.
* Steam heat increases blood circulation and irrigation, but not blood pressure.
* Steam heat enhances total lymph system cleansing.
* Steam heat has been recently used in therapies against cancer and infectious diseases.
* Steam baths are highly effective is removing fat-stored toxins from the body.
* Steam effectively washes toxins from the surface of the skin as you sweat.
* Steam treatment improves vascular flow, enhancing oxygen, nutrient, and lymph exchange at the cellular level.

lol

because you are a starter, I'd say 10-15 minutes if you can take that.. notice that, if you have particular respiratory or heart problems you shouldnt enter the sauna (if you feel bad during the session just rush to the door lol) ! oh, take some friendly advices as:
-to take a warm shower before entering
-if you are there for a long period have some breaks with a shower
- take a shower afterwards as well
-start off by sitting for 5 min and then you can lay down
-before getting out, sit for some minutes
-read the sauna instructions on the door if there are any

enjoy it :)

lol u r funny :D

too bad I'm a girl ;) and straight lol there are no mixtures in my sauna though...women in the women's room and the opposite for men.

Just an added word....Most saunas are for people 18 and older only becaues while the steam does havea lot of benefits if you stay in too long or don't drink plenty of water before you go in you could pass out or become light headed.
Not that I'm against saunas I love them I find that 20mins in the sauna is one of the most relaxing things in the world. Just want to make sure that you guys understand the whole picture...

16 going on 18 lol :D
