Sport Same foods every day?

Sport Fitness
I was wondering, is it bad to eat the same foods every day? Like say I eat extremely well one day, all healthy foods and getting in everything I should be, could I continue eating those same meals and nothing else daily without running into any health problems? I know I'd get sick of the food after a while, but ignoring that... anything else I'd have to worry about?

I think its important to vary your diet as its unlikely that the same foods you eat each day contain all the vitamins, minerals, phytonutrients etc that your body needs.

This website is excellent- check out the lists of foods they've recommended and you'll see just which nutrients each type of food offers.

It soon becomes clear that you need to vary what you eat, and that even eating too much of certain foods, even fruits and vegs, may be doing you more harm than good.

I think it depends on how many different types of food you eat each day. You probably don't want to do the exact same thing everyday but fruit, vegetables, and whole wheat bread are things that would be good to take everyday.

eat the same types of things, but change it up. chicken breast is a staple, but cook it with a few different seasonings.
one day, add broccoli, the next, cauliflower, the day after, peas and carrots.

keeping it consistent makes it easier since you're not constantly cooking.

Agree.. but can't understand why you eat same each day.

^^It is a complete diet. It is hard to get a full, complete diet in day in and day out - that's why he switches little things up to make it not so monotonous. Different meats serve different purposes for different times of the days, same goes for everything else, it's just easier to do.

Exactly. I know my meat serving sizes are always about 4-6oz depending on the meal...so I just rotate meats to keep some sense of variety in my life.
ditto on veggies (which you can't really over-do anyways). Lunch today is broccoli chicken and rice...tomorrow its peas, carrots, chicken and rice, the day after it migth be broccoli, beef, and rice.

I just go to the fridge, weigh the food, and I'm done. planning 42 meals a week (6 a day, 7days a week) is just not that fun.
besides, food is just fuel anyways, so why make it overly complicated?
