Running on your toes?...

I'm planning on starting up a running routine; but right now I'm having an issue... I can't naturally run on the 'heal toe' style like everyone else. For some reason it feels natural to run on my 'toes' (land and push off with the toes). And that's mostly how I run... My question, should I train to land on my heels? Is that the recommend method of running? Or does it even matter?

I run on my toes as well for me it was good until i got shin splints. I had a treadmill analysis and got some good shoes which helped me concentrate on imprving my technique

I used to run on my toes. Then I was training for my marathon and tore my achilles tendon sheath. That was a TERRIBLE pain. And, I couldn't walk for a week (much less run). This didn't happen until I hit the 12 mile mark. So, if you are planning on getting any distance, I would learn the heel toe. I learned the heel toe after my injury healed and I haven't had any issues since. Actually, my legs fatigue less with heel-toe.

Toe running, if you'll notice the next time you watch a race, is for short distance and sprinting. The heel-toe method is used for distance.
