Running more

I've been running 25 mins a day every morning. (6 - 7 mph)
According to what I know, I burn about 330 calories that way. And usually am kind of tired afterwards. I'm thinking that I should start running more, for like 30 mins or 40.
How long should I run? Until I can't run anymore? Or stick with 25 mins?

The idea is to challenge yourself, and you can do that by either running longer or running faster. Eventually, you do want to move up to 30-45 minutes, though.

Running for longer and longer duration at a constant speed is not necessarily helpful because the body gets accustomed. It does not really challenge the body. I have switched to random inclines and HIIT now. Maybe you could try variations.

I believe that after 20 or so minutes of continuous running, your body starts burning fat for fuel, so a 30-45 minute run takes advantage of that "zone." Once you've reached that, running faster increases the intensity.

Of course, that doesn't mean that's all you should do. Hills and intervals should also be used in training.

Well, yea, I ran for 35, but now I'm cutting it down to 25 (because of the heat outside) and doing 25 mins of swimming. So all in all I get 50 mins of Cardio. Sound good?

Snap, I think that your body burns fat as soon as you start running as long as your stomach is empty. That's what I've heard, not to sure if it's true.
Anyone know for sure?

bloc, that's a theory that I've heard too, but I'm not sure as to how accurate it is. That's the idea of the "fasted run" first thing in the morning. Your 50 min total sounds good to me :)

Boomdoggin, the benefit would be extended exercise.
