Running is causing me headaches

Yes, I know of after-exercise headaches but this is different. I'm really not active but I do have times where I use the treadmill to shed off a few pounds. Last week, I started up the routine and noticed that I got a pounding headache which lasted for about 1-2 minutes and then completely went away. Now, this usually happens when I run on the tredmill. It even happens if I run briskly to the door or something. Is this something really serious? Btw, I'm a person that really never gets headaches, I've never had a problem with them (in general I meant).

How is your blood pressure?

Last time I went to the doctors-about a month ago for something unrelated-it was relatively normal. Would it be wise to go again tommorow or something to have it checked? Oh yea, I dont know if this is related or not (possibly happening to many people who run) but my left hand also has also felt weaker when I run.

it might just be your body flushing toxins out of your system (common when unactive people start being active, and doesn't last very long), or it could be something more serious to do with blood pressure.

either way, go to a doctor before you do any more running.

Also could be a sinus issue. Do you have or have had sinus problems? Have you had a cold lately?

Hydration levels.... carry a lil water pod in your pocket and sip it along the way... whether it helps the headaches or not, it is good to add, it will increase your distance too. AND you can use your sips as a motivator for another hundred steps and such. think of runnign events, after 5 there is somethign at every mile. you basically release a 1/2 pint per 30 minutes or so.

headaches I have battled with have been hydration related, in running, and now open water swimming.

wow,,,, wordy today

Thanks for the replies guys. Yea, I'll take the water thing into consideration first and foremost. I actually ran this morning for a bit and I thankfully was without a headache. Also going to doctor tommorow for BP check.

And nah, haven't had a cold in a while. Sinuses are pretty clear. Thanks for the idea though. I'm a bit of a hypochondriac so I instantly think I'm having internal bleeding in the head and stay up for the entire night worrying.
