Running in Intervals

I want to exercise but I don't seem to find the time for a 30mins running workout anymore. I usually ran at 6.5 MPH for 30mins to lose around 390 calories on the treadmill. But what if I ran for 5mins a day for 6 times at 6.5 MPH to get a total of 30mins. With warms ups and cool downs. Would there be a problem in terms of weight loss or calories lost or it would be the same thing just more into my schedule?

According to current guidelines, if you're going to break up your workout into intervals throughout the day, that they still need to be at least 10 minutes at a time. Any less than that and you won't have dipped into your fat stores for the energy yet.

Your routine seem excellent. The problem you had mentioned it is not the big issue as you think. All i want to suggest you that you need to continue your current routine for one or two month. Within this period your body would adopt it. After that particular period you need to restructure your routine in an advanced level.

Now you are running on the treadmill for 30 minutes at the speed of 6.5. After two month restructure it and spend at least 40 minutes on the treadmill with increased speed as well. More importantly continue this routine for another two months. You would definitely get your desired result.
