First I will give you a little information to help you answer my question. I am a 38 year old female. 110 pounds. 5 foot 2 inches. I have been running 2 miles 3-4 times a week for the past 2 months. I walk for 5 minutes before I run and walk 5 minutes afterwards as a cool down. (I also lift 3 times a week on the days I don't run.) Since it is taking me 24 minutes to run two miles, do I count my walking time as part of my exercising because 24 minutes isn't enough? Also, I purchased a HR monitor approximately 2 months ago and it still is saying my heart rate is way too high when running.
(220-38 yrs old = 182 MHR) (hope my math is right)
182 times 60 % = 109
182 times 80 % = 146
So if I figured this out right, my heart rate should be between 109 and 146, right?
I checked to make sure the HR monitor is working correctly by checking my HR against the treadmill HR monitor and they both said the same thing.
The heart rate monitor summary after I am done running says my HR was between 177-187.
Am I figuring this out right?
