Running Buddy

Greetings,

I am posting this in an attempt to find an online running buddy. Someone to correspond via email with regularly to discuss training and progress. What I seek to gain more than anything else is mutual accountability. The new year is already well underway and I have had trouble staying on track. I don't care if you are a total noob or an elite runner, you just have to be encouraging and want that encouragement recipricated.

I guess now would be a good time to tell you a little about myself. I was at one time very overweight(between 270 and 300, as anyone that size will tell you, they avoid weighing themselves). I lost it slowly over the years and got into endurance sports. I love running and cycling. I have done a few 5ks, a duathlon, and 2 half-marathons. I have done a couple cycling centuries and do a charity 2-day bike tour every year. I was supposed to complete my first full marathon last fall, but a knee injury sidelined me for a while. I am trying to once again build up my fitness by training for an upcoming 5k.

I use Nike+, so that is one way we could track each others effort and progress.

So, if anyone is interested, let me know.

Daniel

Welcome!

What I can tell you from hanging out here is that if you post in the Journal section, you will get the kind of accountability you're looking for.

What I would suggest is starting off with stating your goal and then posting your progress along the way. When is the 5k?

The 5k is in the first week of April.

The journal section is a good idea. From where I sit, however, avoiding that type of accountability is as easy as not visiting this site.

If this doesn't work, that is my plan B.

hi Daniel,i just happen to look online for a running buddy and your post come up. since i am also in orientation on this site and i am brand new to it and i have some many more things in comment with you fitness wise i would love to be your running buddy! my son name is Daniel also - he doesn't run not yet anyway. little background - i too lost some weight about 60 lbs and so far i have run countless 5k and 10k and 4 half-marathons. i also trained for a full marathon but a shinsplints injury halted my training halfway threw the program. i took some time off recently i am trying to get back into the routine but it is hard. i am not much of a cyclist so you will have to get a different buddy for that but the running i am your girl! i am doing some cross training as well so there is a lot to e-mail about. this year - well 2011 i like to run a half in spring and a full marathon in the fall.
