Running/breathing through mouth

After 2 months of running, I still haven't figured out how to breath in through my nose and out my mouth. (I can do this while walking but not running) My husband went running with me and said I take really shallow breaths and need to control my breathing. Easier said than done. Any suggestions? Anyone have a suggestion or tip that helped them?

It def takes a while to figure out, but as Joey said, practice makes perfect. You need to start out with it and keep it, and slowly increase your pace. It took me a few weeks to get the 'in through the nose, out through the mouth' technique down while running, but it is better than the sporadic breaths I used to take.

Keep trying and you'll get it, don't worry. :)

That's an old wives tale ;)

You should breath in through your nose, your mouth and even your ears if you can :D

The important thing is the rhythm you keep, you must try and control your breathing and keep it in time with your steps. A classic example of how NOT to breath is if you try and run up too steep a hill and your breathing goes hay-wire, that's no good.
