Hi everyone,

I’m a 32 year old female starting out on a weight loss adventure. I’m 5’4” and currently 178 pounds. I’ve been at this weight for 2-3 years and although I remain fairly active, I’ve recently felt like my health is suffering overall from my eating habits. I’ve been reading about intermittent fasting and I am committed to trying it. Today was day one of 16:8 and so far, so good. I also am going to try my hand at calorie counting. I struggle (like many) at keeping up with it, but it will be essential to my success.

Barriers to my success have been stress, being a shift worker, and loving food, haha! I am ready to change though and want to document my journey.

Today I ate 1450 calories. My calorie deficit was around 400-500 calories.

Here’s to day one! ☺️

Welcome to the forum :)

There are several members here doing intermittent fasting.

Day 2 down!

I must say I was quite hungry at the end of the 16 hours. Was quite tempted to jump into an early breakfast but managed to hold off. The stomach growling started around the 12 hour mark. I read that this will get more tolerable with time. I’m off work for a few days...trying to find the motivation to write a paper (I’m a graduate student). Avoiding stress eating is going to be crucial during work... and also during peak school times.

I had a good eating day. Ate 1350 calories and managed 20 minutes on my recumbent bike. Feels good to be active and I am excited to keep this up.

I actually found my diary on here from 8 years ago, haha! Username: Meggymay! What a trip down memory lane and it goes to show how these battles are never easily won. Keep fighting the good eating, healthy living fight everyone!

Day 3!

Feeling pretty great. This intermittent fasting is such a great tactic. Here comes the difficult part...figuring out how this is going to work with night shifts. Night shifts naturally make you want to eat when your stomach starts growling at 3-4am. My eating window has been around 12-8pm and I don’t think I want to shift it during a night shift. So, this is where the will power will have to come in. Wish me luck!

Today I ate 1300 calories and felt full during my eating window.

Night shifts are always hard I'm afraid. Maybe a cup of coffee or clear broth would help without kicking you out of fasting mode? I'm no good at fasting at all though, so I really don't know. Best of luck anyway!
