Roman Chair question!

I've started to use the local gyms roman chair (I saw someone else using it and finally know what the thing is!) and decided I'd start after finding out from the guy that it works the lower back and obliques, two areas I need SERIOUS work on.

Are there any suggestions on using this? Is it even recommended? I did a google search and EVERYTHING that came up was the same "review" on 20 different sites, nothing of any value. I figured this would be the place to ask!
