Hi, everyone! I figured I'd try to keep some sort of archive of my weight loss. My name is Rhiannon. I'm a 20 year old woman from Maine. I started using a calorie counting app back in May (2019), when I peaked at 276 Lbs. I'd always floated around 260 through high school and after. The app actually helped me learn how to count calories correctly and how to measure out my food. After using it for a few months, I found that I didn't really need it anymore! My caloric limit is 1,500, though most days I don't even exceed 1,000. I walk for hours daily, and I try to move as often as possible.
My current weight is 208 Lbs.

-- How much weight do you want to lose? My goal weight is 200, so 8 more pounds to go!

-- What is the timeframe for reaching your target weight? About a month

-- How do you want to accomplish your goal (what methods do you want to use)? The winter is for sure going to mess up my amount of outdoor activity, but I think I can stay on track if I keep the driveway shoveled lol

-- Who or what can support you in reaching your goal? My dear friend M consistently keeps me on track, along with bringing me along on laborious adventures, as he tends to do.

-- How realistic is your goal? I'd say it's pretty realistic

-- When will you start? I've been started, babe

Hey Rhiannon, welcome to the forum, and congratulations on the 68 lb weight loss, that is a real accomplishment! Good for you.

I think you will find your diary and this forum to be a good place to give you help and support, and logging your food and activities here can help keep you on track.

Just a few questions:
  • How tall are you?
  • How did you arrive at the 200 lb goal?
  • Is that your ultimate goal, or interim?
  • Do you have a plan for maintenance after you reach your goal?
  • Do you have any health issues that might impact your dieting or weight loss that might be relevant to folks giving you advice?

Best of luck to you, and I look forward to reading about your continuing progress.

Hey lovely - I'm 206lbs at the moment so we are similar! Welcome to the forum - looking forward to reading more about you!

Hey Rhiannon and welcome! You've come a long way and shown you're not afraid of hard work. Have you thought about how to tackle maintenance at all?

Hi Rob! Thank you for your kind words! I think it'll help out a lot.
  • How tall are you? I am 5' 5''
  • How did you arrive at the 200 lb goal? I guess it just seemed a lot more realistic than trying to aim for 120 lbs, lol
  • Is that your ultimate goal, or interim? Well, at first it was my ultimate goal, but when I get there, I know I can keep going for sure. I think it would be WILD if I could get to 180!
  • Do you have a plan for maintenance after you reach your goal? My friend wants me to go to his gym with him once I'm ready to start to tone up.
  • Do you have any health issues that might impact your dieting or weight loss that might be relevant to folks giving you advice? I grew up obese, have never ever been small in my life, but there's no actual underlying issue.

Hi! I am a little nervous that I'll fall back into old habits once I reach my goal, but I suppose that if I'm aware of that, I'm already a step ahead. With winter coming up, I see myself frequenting the local gym with my friends, but they're gonna have to convince me no one's gonna make fun of me first LOL

Same here, according to my mother my obesity dates back to when I was a baby. Big difference is I'm a lot older than you, you are indeed wise to be dealing with this now. You have a lot of years to enjoy your health.

Sure, I understand that, achievable goals are important, but it doesn't hurt to think about where you want to go long term. In my case I started here at 320 lbs and have dropped to 255. I think my ideal weight is about 160, not sure I have not been that light in 50 years. My only real goal is to eat well today, and I can achieve that. I have a kind of long term goal of 160, not expecting to see that any time real soon, but I am headed that way. I'd encourage you to think about where you ultimately want to be, may not be as important as setting interim goals, but worth thinking about.

Me too, and more than a little nervous. One thing that helps me is to look at people here who have achieved their goal weights and are now maintaining. I read their diaries and have asked questions from time to time. It helps me see that maintenance is possible.

You seem a smart insightful young woman, I think you can do this!

Hi, Rhiannon & welcome to the forum. Well done on losing 68 lbs since May. What an achievement! It sounds like you are doing this sensibly and also not setting yourself up for failure. I hope your friends convince you that you won't be laughed at if you go to the gym. It's great to have that support.
If you do step up your exercise it might be a good idea to track again for a while to make sure you don't overcompensate. Well done on getting to this stage. You should be very proud of yourself :)

Good morning, guys!
Struggling a little this morning with some inner turmoil...and a hangover lol. Last night I went to my girl's Halloween party, and while I had a great time, I did overindulge with candy and soda. I'm trying to be nice to myself, as I haven't had those treats in months, and it's Halloween. Not only that, have you ever had a chorus of drunk girls around you like "Babe you're beautiful! Don't even worry about it tonight!"? I haven't eaten breakfast yet, and I'm thinking I should just wait to eat until later.
I love the new little pleasantries I experience from being "thin". Being able to dance with all of my friends is something I always avoided, even though I love dancing. Lately, I can really strut my stuff! Girl talk real quick? Something I have been at the end of receiving lately, is the MAJOR attention from hotties LOL. Who knew that would happen? I'm jus' saying- I have NEVER been picked up and carried by a man (like I weigh nothing at all) until this week. Swoon. It's all the small changes that make losing weight really worth it. I haven't been so happy and healthy in my life! It's like as soon as I started being happier, everyone wanted to be my friend. Which, you know, makes total sense!
It's raining out today, so I think I'll recuperate for a bit, and then get up and bust ass cleaning this damn house hahah. My sister is throwing a Halloween party at my house tonight, so I know I'm gonna be running around for that.
So I'm wondering- is it better to just avoid food today, or should I just eat small? I get so obsessive when it comes to overindulging; I don't really think I have the best judgement here.

Hey Rhi, my suggestion is to forget what happened yesterday and get back on your plan today. Don't eat less than planned, the sooner you are back to eating right the better.

Last night was just a blip, not a big deal in the long run.
Lately, I can really strut my stuff!
Good for you! Stick to this and your stuff will do lots of strutting!

Wow go you! I can't wait to be picked up in the future :') Don't avoid food just go back to your normal routine.

Avoiding food will just leave you more prone to overindulging later. Maybe have something high-protein with plenty of veggies?
I know all of you guys are right, I just get myself so worked up to be honest with you. Thanks for the advice everyone!

:iagree: Have a healthy day, with healthy food & lots of water.
I love the enthusiasm & glad you had so much fun for Halloween. Happiness does attract happiness :)

Its good that you did, but being honest with us should be no harder than being honest with yourself. We don't know you or even what part of the world you are in, so confiding is us is pretty safe. And anything you've done with respect to food, I guarantee you can find people here who have done worse. We share your problem.

Morning, guys!
Slept in again due to the great Halloween night I had last night. Waking myself up now with a green tea with honey, strawberry yogurt (80 cal per 3/4 cup serving) and a few j's. I plan on going for a nice long walk today to just let myself go over the happenings of last night. Anyone else fall in love with walking at the start of your weight loss? I get all of my best thinking done when I'm out and about on the trails. I'm pretty lucky to live in such a pedestrian friendly town lol.
Kept getting soooo many compliments last night on how good I look. Also, something wild happened last night that really put a smile on my face. Me and my friends were walking my boy C back to his house (late, late at night) and he lives uphill. I didn't even realize that I had walked entirely uphill last night! I wasn't breathing like a mad man or anything. It was when we walked back that I noticed we had gone uphill. I kept up with my athletic male friends the entire time without missing a beat (Or I'd be way ahead of them because they'd stop to smoke pot lol) . I know that a year ago, there's NO WAY I would've been able to survive that quest.
Sorry fellas, but I feel I should mention that I did start my cycle yesterday, meaning cravings are BAD and energy is LOW. Trying to really hard to stick it out and push myself to really get the blood pumping today. Gotta get myself back on my routine, because party season is over (for the most part).
Thanks for all of the support! I'm really enjoying being able to reflect and also gain insight from people who know what it's like. I got a few supports here at home, but I live in a pretty rural area. If you eat vegetables and fruit around here, you're probably a hippy.

Feels good doesn't it! I am sure you are looking pretty good.

Another feel good moment, with weight loss you'll have plenty of them.

I think you will find lots of people here walk for exercise, it's good for you.

There are worse things than being a hippy chick, stick to your veggies.

Makes me feel good to see you doing well.
