resistance bands vs. weights

I'm not a bodybuilder and I'm really just looking to burn fat and build lean muscle mass and maintain that forever. Would resistance bands be sufficient for this, or do you think that weights are necessary at least in some way?

Would love to hear from people who have used and/or are currently using bands, but all opinions are welcome :)
 
Bands are a great option. Check out Juan Carlos Santana or Dave Schmitz for real good videos on workout options.
 
Using both bands and weights... at the same time. Using bands with all exercise equipment, both free weights and machine weights, and yes, bowflex and home gyms. I have now for quite some time. I have a patent pending product almost to production designed to be used with machines, free weights, and home gyms. I use the 'prototype' now and have been for some time. Bands are a great accessory when rotated with 'constant' resistance.
