Sport Repair Me Diet.. please help!

Sport Fitness
Hello everyone

I've been lurking on these forums for a while and have seen the all the great advice and knowedge that is pooled in.

So i need to ask your advice :)

a bit less then two years ago i unfortunely lost control of dieting and deprived my body of the nutrients and minerals it needed for a year or so. While i eat enough calories now (2000 a day) i still dont think my body is recovered. I'm ALWAYS cold (finger tips always icy, lips purple) and wounds/burns/cuts just dont heal.

What foods should i try to be incorporating in my diet? I want to start taking care of my body

Thankyou!

If your cold thats more do to with you not doing enough exercises.

start by taking a multivitiamin daily so that you are getting vitamins you need.
what do you eat generally?? post a couple of days meals and i cna help further

Hi there,
I'm glad you have gotten better control of what you are eating. Are you eating a variety of foods including various fruits and veggies, lean meats, good fats (such as nuts and olive oil), legumes, grains, etc? If you post what you are currently eating I might have some suggestions.

Post your stats as well. Age, height, weight, body fat percentage, fitness routine, detailed menu, etc.

This is most likely a case of not getting the correct nutrients in the correct amounts. We should be able to provide some feedback for you :)

Post your fitness routine too. Moving and/or stretching helps circulation a lot.

yeah, poor circulation, maybe low blood pressure.

protein is gonna be key for repairing damaged tissue, including cuts and bruises. assuming you're exercising with heavy weights and cardio, the prescription is 1g of protein per pound of lean body mass, per day. Not the measly 50-60g of protein teh US RDA says.

Thank you everyone for your replys!

My stats are: female, 5"9 55kg (or 116 lbs) Im not sure about my bodyfat though.

The truth is, i already know my diet and exercise is poor. But i usually eat toast with ham and tomato or omellete or fruit and mueslir for breakfast. Something sandwhich like for lunch and usually some sort of cuisine with vegetables for dinner. I have a horrible habit of skipping meals and eating sweets instead. I have to work on this, it's just discipline and motivation i guess.

As for excercise, i need to get myself moving a bit more, i only run once a week, but im always walking about since im a student without a car. I walk to school, to the shops etc.

I have bought myself some multivitamins as you suggested :) And i just made an omlette for lunch with 6 egg whites.

Did you have a blood test done recently? It might help pinpoint the problem. (Purely as an example, I know that diabetes is related to slower healing cuts etc)

Gee's that's scary as i have a family history of diabetes. That and i have far too much refined sugar than is recomended.

Yeah, i have been meaning to get a general check up just to see what the damage has been to my body.

Good lord! It's totally underweight! I'd take a very close look at your caloric intake levels and adjust them accordingly. You're probably not eating enough nor working out correctly. You are sickly. No offense, but the body cannot repair itself or progress when it isn't being nourished.

I don't want to scare you at all, but I am shorter than you and weigh more :) And I am not fat by any means.

Do you mind adding some weight on? A great nutrition program couplead with a kick butt fitness routine will probably solve many of your current issues.

Diabetes can make you lose weight too, but I don't suspect that is the problem. Some autoimmune disorders like Raynaud's and Lupus can cause cold, bluish fingers, and weight loss. Also slow healing wounds. Have you seen your family doctor?

I had similar problems when I was underweight. I gained 15-20 pounds, and feel great now. When you are malnourished, your defenses are low. Then you become sick, and lose more weight and become more sick.. it's a vicious cycle. I would recommend seeing your doctor to rule out illness, then see a nutritionist to put some healthy weight on and meet your specific needs.

Best of luck!

Yeah i know im underweight :(

It's strange, because i dont really look that out of proportion. It's as if my bones are hollow? Any way, if putting on weight means i'll stop being cold all the time and i have a better immune system, then i have no problems with it at all :)

I'm definately not restricting my caloric intake (i have 2000 a day)

Anyway, i do plan to see a doctor soon, with my final exams next month i cant afford to fall sick!

Thanks for all your help everyone :)

I have another question tho, i've bought vitamins as suggestes (multi, B, calcium and iron) but i cant take it at the same time as my antibioitc i take with breakfast and dinner

When should i take the vitamins? i heard morning and before sleep were the best times, is this true?
