I was asleep when it happened, since it occured at about 6AM my time (Pacific). I was in 8th grade, and when I arrived at school, my friends notified me of what had happened. The incident was the main subject matter of all my classes that day.....I remember being completely confused of what exactly had taken place; until I came home and turned on the news. I wondered who would do such a thing, how the victims and their families were doing, etc.
When I visited Washington D.C. this past June, I wanted to see the Pentagon...but unfortunately it was closed to the public. I have yet to visit ground zero in New York.
Last night they aired the two-part movie The Path to 9/11, where it shows events of the years prior to 9/11 up until that very day, and then the aftermath. The parts of the movie that freightened me the most was when a Middle-Eastern man was arrested at the Vancouver, CA and WA border, and the cops raid his apartment to search it. One of the things they found was a map in which Los Angeles was circled, with "LAX" written next to it...indicating that the LAX International Airport was a target. The other part that made me sweat was on the day of September 11th, when the two Middle-Eastern men board the aircraft, unbuckle their seatbelts, pull out their weapons, and begin walking to the cockpit. That's where the movie cuts off, and continues next Saturday.
It's so scary to see that these kinds of things really do take place.
My prayers go out to anyone and everyone affected by this tragedy.
