Relationship Fitness

Hi Everyone!

I am currently working on a product/ service design in the area of relationship fitness. I am focussing on using physcial exercise as a means to bring couples together to build stronger, lasting intimate bonds. As a part of my research, I am looking to get as much information as possible about couples and fitness from which to create a set of user requirements and product/ service design criteria.

If anyone has any feedback regarding exercising with a spouse/ "other half" - the benefits, advantages, experiences etc., I would love to hear about them. I am interested in the emotional response felt by couples that work out together, and how the techniques/ skills/ things they learn through training with a partner can transfer to aide the health of their relationship in daily life.

Thanks in advance, and remember that any feedback, no matter what it it, is helpful:)

can we pm u instead of blabbing on here??

Exercisign as a couple doesn't work for us, that's for sure!

We have to take turns on the exercise bike since we only have one....and we only have one VCR so if we want to do an exercise video, it's the same thing.

We can't execise together - beisdes the fact that our space is too small - it's too arousing for my husband. Like yoga postures, for example.

Lastly, he doesn't like me nagging him to exercise, or being the Food Police. He says he can decide for himself!

The only thing we CAN do together is walk in the park, but he's much taller than I am and moves faster, so it's too hard for me and not a good workout for him!

Sorry I couldn't help you more........

Hi LiveFromNY,
Thanks for the reply - it was great. All feedback is good, whether you and your partner feel positively or negatively about "couples fitness". Do either of you have gym memberships, and have you ever worked out there together? If not, do you think that riding the stationary bike side by side has some appeal, or not so much? You mentioned only one VCR, so you have to do fitness tapes separately - are there any forms of exercise that you both enjoy that you might like to do together?
