Recovery Day as a Weight Day?

Is it acceptable to replace a full on recovery day with a weight day? I mean, no intense cardio (just a 10min warm-up) and about an hours worth of weight training. Would it be best to not do ANY exercise on those days?

how does your entire routine look like? we need to know the context around this rest day.. Do you only have one rest day a week and do cardio on all other days? I think you should have at least one day a week where you don't train or you could quickly burn out..

I run about every other night, and during the day I hit the gym around 5.30-6am and stay there for a good two hours. Those two hours usually consist of 1.5 hours cardio (stepmill, elliptical, plain ol tredmill) and about a half hour to 45mins of weight training.

I have two questions:

1. Why are you doing 1.5 hours of cardio?

2. Are you doing your weight training after your cardio? If so, why?

I usually get a 'high' while doing the cardio after about 35-40mins and want to do more. If I didn't stop myself, I could probably do about 2 full hours worth. I do weight training after an initial warm up, and then go back to the cardio afterwards. I heard it was better this way, but whether it's true or not, I have no clue.
