Sport Recommendations Needed: nutrition 24hrs prior to 5K

Sport Fitness
I know a 5K may not seem like much to those on this forum, but for me who hasn't run much more than 2 miles in the last like 5 years of my life, it's enough. Not that I can't run the 5K, I can, but typically I am not a distance runner.

Anyway, I am running a 5K tomorrow and was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for proper nutrition today and tmw morning. The race is in Atlanta and it's supposed to be a high of 91 today...so tmw will probably be just as hot. Maybe in the 70s/80s early in the day.

Is it better to drink sports drinks like gatorade or powerade today versus water? Or should I stick to water? Or a mix?

I was planning to make a Chicken Marsala tonight with pasta for dinner. It's a light recipe and is low in sodium and I figured the protein and carbs would be good, but am open to suggestions.

Thanks!

Eat whatever you like, just don't overeat. You don't want a lot of food sitting in your digestive system at race time. Morning of, a light breakfast like cereal and a banana. Enjoy the race.

Hope I'm not too late but you do not need to carbo-load for a 5k really.

Drink lots of water the day before and 500ml about 1-2 hours before the run (so that you are well hydrated).

A lit but high energy breakfast like banana and porridge 3 hours before could be good.
