Hello everyone, I am a college student looking to get in shape and this is my dilemma.

I am 215 lbs and about 5'9'', and I recently decided that it is time to get in shape and get my life together. I am currently prescribed medications that cause me to have little to no appetite during the day, honestly it is hard for me to eat breakfast or lunch. I usually don't eat til around 4 or 5 PM. Being at college the dining halls have healthy options, so I have been eating pretty healthy (No Fried Foods, Grilled Chicken, Salads, Fruits, Whole Grain Bread.... etc.), and another big thing is I used to drink Diet Coke a lot, and I have completely cut that out. I drink a lot of coffee as well, but only black, no cream or sugar. With this all being said, there are days where I am so busy at school, I just forget to eat. This has just started to happen, but I keep reading online that you shouldn't "starve" yourself and not to eat too little, but quite frankly it is easiest for me just not to eat, I still feel as if I have energy and what not. I would say most days I eat around 1000 calories of "healthy" foods.

Also, I have began to do body weight exercises during the day, and to be honest I feel like it is more effective than going to the gym. I do push ups, planks, jumping jacks, and all of that kind of stuff, sometimes I use certain videos on the TV (Insanity, P90X) but those programs are too much for me to do religiously. I am able though to get a thorough workout in usually every day basically.

My point is this, can I lose weight doing this? I just started doing this about a week ago, and I plan on continuing for a month to see if this plan actually will work.

Sounds like you have a start. One of the things that helps with weight loss is cardio. You might think about Kettlebelling it offers strength training and cardio at the same time.

Don't Drink alcohol , please go to gym regularly. If you are to lose weight, keep it off and stay healthy, you have to do it. So with that said, it is time to make up your mind that you will begin to exercise and stick with it. Find an exercise that you like which will give you more of an incentive to keep doing it. Some types of exercise that can be fun are walking, jogging, biking, swimming, golfing, tennis, or going to the gym.
