not really at all.
It's hard for my brain to just turn off.
usually it's like I'm always thinkin inside my head. Either of stuff to do , what went on today or a song stuck in my head.
I have something similar that happens to me. Take a look at any stimulants you take, like caffein (cola, coffee, chocolate), especially if taken after 3 or 4 pm in the afternoon. Switch to water or non-caffeniated drinks in the afternoon, or cut out all coffee, soda, energy drinks, supplements that have stimulants, etc. Red Bull and those other energy drinks are designed to give people a boost, and always have a big stimulant effect on me.
I don't want to seem presumptious about your age, but because you mentioned asking your father to take you to the doctor, I'm assuming you're under 18. You may be going through a time of growth where your body is producing extra hormones that are stimulating you. If you go through periods where you are extremely hyper mentally, then crash, you should tell your doctor about it, but if it just seems like this is your new "normal", then you might look at some other mental exercises to get rid of what I call "busy mind".
I usually get about 5 hours sleep a night until the weekends, and then I get closer to 7 and a half. But I'm 50, so at my age, its not unusual to sleep less (we think we're going to die soon, so don't want to waste what time is left sleeping!)
I used to get thinking about things, then not be able to sleep, and then the anxiety about not being able to sleep upset me, further compromising my ability to fall asleep. I finally realized that even if I can't actually sleep, my body needs the rest, so I stay in bed and try to relax. I force myself to slow my breathing and relax every part of my body, starting with my toes, then my feet, then my legs, etc. Thinking about each part of my body and trying to visualize that part relaxing ... even "feeling" the muscles start to relax ... often allows me to slow down enough to sleep.
