Hi everyone,
I've been trying to diet for a while now, and after trying and failing many fad diets I've come to realize that I need to eat proper food and a decent amount of it. I've decided on going for 1200 cals a day, and, as far as I've calculated my best bet would be eating 145g of Protein a day (I'm currently weighing 145; hight is 5'4 and want to get back to my former 125lbs and afterwards to 115lbs) - however I have been finding it very VERY hard to get that much protein into my daily diet.
The two major problems are a) I'm a pescetarian (only eat fish, no meat/poultry) and b) I work at a school and I am faced with a morning and afternoon tea breaks at the school canteen (complete carb feast - I usually just eat a piece of fruit); then at lunch (very rarely get fish, max. once a month; I eat salad, some kind of vegetable, sometimes brown rice, brown beans - I stay away from the rest cause it's either potatoes, meat or poultry and some hyper caloric carb concotion which I usually stay away from). If you're thinking that the lunch menu seems a bit strange - I'm currently living in Brazil, rice and beans is the national dish here. As you can see there is no way in hell that I'll be getting enough protein with that.
I'm really not an egg fan (but if I realise I have had very little or no protein the whole day I end up eating an omelet at night) and breakfest is usually porridge with soy milk (which gives me 7g protein max), and the thing is I love having sth sweet in the morning. I would cut out all carbs for the rest of the day if I can have them in the morning).
It's hard though because I can't really bring yogurt with me (no fridge I can store it in), I'd get frowned at with a can of tuna (the smell), nuts don't fill me, plus even if I eat these things - it's still nowhere near enough to fill my daily protein intake.
I get home quite late as well (usually around 9ish; on good days at 6pm), if I'm not hungry I'll have plain yogurt (again, very little protein) as I don't want to eat too much at night (need to goo to bed at 10 because I get up really early in the morning), when I am hungry I try to eat some fish or an omelette.
Has anyone got advice for me on what to change/how to get more protein. I've been dieting and working out, and have lost very little. I just don't know what to do anymore and I am getting incredibly frustrated.
Thanks in advance!
