Raw Food Diet

Want to know how my brother in law lost 200lb in a year? I'm dead serious about this.

A raw food diet is when all your eat is raw vegetables/fruits. This may sound unhealthy, but you may be surprised to hear that many people choose to eat raw. Since he started, he hasn't been sick once, and is a mound of energy (bikes to work and back everyday, 3km). He started eating raw as a detox diet, but soon realized how much he enjoyed it. He doesn't intend on ever going back to his original diet.

Has anybody else tried this before? IMO, this is a fail-proof way to lose weight, for whoever has the willpower to pull this drastic change in diet.

ONLY raw fruits and vegetables? This means no raw meat, no nothing else?

I know many people who have eaten raw vegan for years, and I did it myself for some months as a detox. It is definitely a fast way to lose weight, but balancing your diet for essential nutrients is a continual challenge. It's best to research thoroughly if you want to try it,

It's difficult to get proper nutrition on a diet like this. I know plenty of healthy vegetarians/vegans, but they're almost all Indians....and they definitely don't follow a raw food diet.

I think this is unrealistic for most people.

I believe adding some raw veggies and fruits is important but not all your nutrition comes from them: you still need protein and carbs. I'd say adding a slice or two of whole grain bread and a portion of lean meat-tuna or soy would make this a healthier diet in the long term. I do enjoy the taste of raw spinach, broccoli, carrots etc-
but also a raw diet is not for everyone, you should take into consideration that not everyone processes raw foods very well or their calorie intake should be higher than what veggies and fruits might add.
