Sport Rate of protein abrorption

I just read that and I'm puzzled. I'm here talking about the "Protein Absorption Rates in Humans" section of the article.

it says that amino acid absorption is only 5-8g/hour
that's not a lot. I don't really know enough to critique the methods that are used in the studies they reffer to.. But I have a hard time believing that a lot of us are ****ting out over 100g of amino acids daily..

anyone want to read that article and give some input?

It may be prudent to point out, however, that the given range of MRUS determined by Rudman et al. (27), Issues of Dietary Protein Intake in Humans 133, had significant limitations, as it consisted of a small sample size (10 normal and 34 cirrhotic subjects), excluded individual differences according to age, sex, previous diet history, training status, and was undertaken more than 30 y[ears] ago.

It's been my experience averages in general and lowballing specifically will almost always lead an individual astray. This is a fault of statistics in general we will hopefully overcome to an extent eventually with the advent of technology.
 
Obviously wouldn't hurt if we saw more quality studies on healthy, trained individuals. That's what I was referring to with "lowballing", there. You wanna compare apples, cool, but don't go applying apple research to oranges and expecting accurate results.

Also, "*reliance on* statistics".
 
The MRUS did not have to do with protein absorption but the rate of which the body can create urea (after the protein has been absorbed)

I'm guessing when they study how quickly the body absorbs different proteins the subjects are fasted. Doesn't minerals and vitamins affect the absorption process? If you're low on a vit or min because you've been fasting, won't that make the absorption slower?
