Quick Question?

I am currently
Height :5'4
weight:about 110 pounds.
Age: 14 turning 15, soon

Should i do weights? Does it shorten your growth by alot if so? I still want to be 6'0 by 21, thats my goal. I was also wondering if wrist weights shortens your growth. Thanks, i appreciate it

wrist weights don't hurt yoru growth but they're completely useless.

lifting weights in general does not stunt your growth.

you can't really have a height "goal". your genetics have already determined it for you and there's not much you can do about it.

Agreed fully.

Sidenote
Wrist weights can cause damage to your shoulder do NOT use them when running, jogging, or walking. In fact just do not use them at all.

EDIT
Do not buy, or take any product that claims to make you taller or grow more.

In Theory Lifting moderate amount of weights could actually HELP with your growth. When you sleep your HGH levels raise "human growth hormone" and people who exercise with weights have higher levels of release of this hormone. although no study has ever been done on the subject in theory it is very possible that moderate weight lifting can help stimulate bone growth from many points not just limited to the heavier release of HGH.

Well. Some say that swimming can help you to grow tall.

It is also a negetive when it comes to bone mineral density, so if you are not doing other exercises dont' do it! (Especially important for women as they age past 40, but important knowledge for all to have, because NOW is the time to build your bones.)

There are two ways to stunt your growth, fracture a growth plate and poor nutrition.

So dont' do anything stupid like jump from a 3 story building and stop drinking coke. (in other words, feed your body what it needs and you will grow to your full genetic potential). Don't forget to get your sleep!:D

At your age you can definately lift weights, just don't max out and make sure you know how to do the exercises properly.

Completely agree with the wrist weights comments, a great way to get some early arthritic conditions but not good for much else!
