Quick ab question

When i do crunches, will i get the same results if i do non-stop crunches till i can't anymore as in if i do set of crunches?

Yeah till failure is good, but whats even better and wil get you size is adding resistance (weights). Try 20lbs behind ur head and see how long it takes you to get to failure now!

well you got to read Pavel's articles on

too make it clear working out to failure is a bad idea

im not sure the exact reasons but i try to elaborate in my own words

basically reps to failure causes severe muscle damage as in micro tears

secondly your nerves or whatever they be called; record your performance during such activity. so you gotta finish your exercise nice and fresh may be 2 reps before failure. finishing your exercise to failure results in frayed nerves with repeated efforts

they are other benefits of not working to failure

you seriously got to look up his articles, my explanation maybe inaccurate but the funda is straight forward "DO NOT WORK TO FAILURE"

you could read the following article

basically its not healthy to repeatedly working to failure
you can do that once in a while to check your max reps

I am going to agree with Benny!

Crunches to failure means you're going to start getting sloppy after around 25 good solid crunches. Furthermore, if you are holding a 20 or 25lb plate behind your head (I do this exercise) you are at best going to get 20 reps or so before your stomach feels like it's going to explode. The best results come from the best reps. As soon as your reps become less than good, you're probably pretty fatigued and starting to incorporate other muscles that have nothing to do with your abs.

One of the first things people start to do is with their hands behind their heads, they start pulling their head up. 1. Bad for your neck. 2. At what point do your abs and arms have any correlation in that position? NONE!

Under control reps with weight (resistance) is by far the best and fastest way to experience growth and cuts in your abs.
