Sport Questions about WHEY

Sport Fitness
I just bought some whey and have some questions...

1. The directions say to mix one scoop with your fav beverage, Do you guys think just mixing it with milk is good? I tired mixing it with water and it was 10 times more gross than milk.

2. It doesn't say how many times a day you should drink it.. So how much should you drink. If it makes a difference, it is 17 grams of protein per serving.

3. Is all whey gross as hell? This crap is sooo gross but because I spent so much damn money on it of course I am going to force my-self to drink it.

4. Does whey make you tired?

I guess thats it for now... thanx for any help!

1. yes, you can mix it with milk. personally i do water and milk depending on when i use it

2. its more about total protein in the meal plan over how much whey you use. solid food first and foremost, use whey if needed to get the total amount you need each day.

3. which one did you get? taste is really a personal preference

4. not me :)

If you're mixing it with milk, the milk may make you feel a little tired. Milk contains tryptophan which stimulates seratonin. I mix with milk as well, but I find I get a work-out trying to completely disolve the stuff in 2% milk.

I have the chocolate flavor from ESA and I think in a blind taste test most people would call it chocolate milk. But I guess mixing it with water make it the equivalent of drinking a Yoo-hoo (bleh).

The brand is called CytoSport.

Another question, when is the best time to take whey? Morning, afternoon, before bed, before or after work out???

All of the above. More specifically- protein should be taken at the above times. All of them, ideally. Whey protein is nothing more than a supplement that provides protein. So you dont have to take why at all those times, you have to take protein at all those times. How often you should be taking the whey, depends on how often you aren't eating/drinking something natural with protein in it.

The big things everyone needs to know about whey. It is superior protein but it burns quickly so it is great for when your body is depleated of protein and needs protein right away (after waking -after a workout) or when your body is about to utilize protein (drinking it just before a workout). Because it does not stay in the system long it is not ideal for bedtime. You will want to get a slow acting nighttime or probolic protein for that.

Now, what everyone should know about the supplement industry. If you buy from brands that nobody has ever heard of there is a big chance (more than %50) that what you have bought is bunk. Also there is an even better chance that it tastes like a dead mans poophole. That is because these companies have no intention of becoming successful. they may meerly want to sell some bunk supplements, piss off all their customers, change their name and do it all over again. You have no idea what is in that ass powder. If you are still intent on drinking it I often mix mine with coffee or milk and mix it with other shakes or yogurt and often add penut butter. I never mix it with water. If milk is too expensive, the taste of powder milk is more forgiving in shakes than it is in your cereal

I have 2 tubs of cytosport and it mixes much better with just water.

may mix better with water, but it always tastes better in milk IMO.

never tried that brand, but I can vouche for these brands tasting good: EAS brand MyoPro (choc & vanilla), NDS brand Amplify (chocolate), Optimum Nutrition brand Pro Complex (chocolate...this one is 55g servings, so just use a half scoop)

Designer Whey is pretty good the few times I had a sample, but it's spendy. I've also heard great things about Nitrean, but can't speak from experience. You can get Nitrean only from

Just noticed this is womens section, oops. Yeah I'm new here...

Anyway, I am thinking about trying this brand next:

Is that a good tasting one? Also, I think my current brand does taste better mixed with milk rather than water, I almost puked when I drank it with water...

Good tasting proteins-
MRM, Cytogainer, Muscle Milk, Micell Edge, NuBlend, Biotest

--If you don't like what you bought, just return it.

thats one of the more popular brands available

you can draw a parallel b/w popularity and taste. a powder is just to add more protein to the diet to which just about any powder will get the job done. if they all are the same, then the popular choices are the ones that taste good or decent.

personally i found it to be ok, not the best i've ever tasted but good :)
