Hello,

So, I'm relatively new to this site, but I've heard many of you here basically gush about how great green tea is. I know its full of great anti-oxidents and its supposed to help burn fat; I'm definitely putting this on my list of things to buy next time I'm at the grocery store. However, I just have a few questions.

1. How often should I drink it? I'm basically cutting back on what I drink to basically water, tea, and maybe a glass of OJ in the morning just to kick-start my day.

2. Can I add any sort of sweetener to it? My dad is diabetic so we don't carry any sugar in the house, but we do use Splenda and I was wondering if just a small sprinkle of it for flavor would negate the effects of the tea or not. Or maybe, instead of that, could I use honey? Its naturally sweet.

3. Hot or cold? Does it really matter how you drink it?

If anyone could answer these questions, it'd be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much in advance.

Remember its a caffeinated beverage, so if you drink too much of it you might be bouncing off the walls.

Don't expect it to lose you any significant weight, like any stimulant it might give you some boost in metabolism, but if for example you put a lot of honey in your tea it might well negate the benefit.

I personally wouldn't drink more than 2 cups of tea per day, but it all depends on how caffeine affects you.

Caffeine does almost nothing for me. Which is disappointing at times because I do wish I could just grab a cup of coffee in the morning and be up and ready to go.

I don't expect it to work miracles for me, but I do hope it will give me a little boost. Any and all help is very welcome. And I wouldn't be putting gallons of honey into it, maybe just a small spoonful to cut the bitter-taste.

I dont' think many of us gush over green tea. I think while it might have some benifits, its greatly over stated.

I read about studies that claim great health effects when people drink as much as 6 cups a day. I don't know if they mean teacups or not... The amount of caffeine in green tea is usually about 30mg, compared to 80mg in a shot of espresso and 160mg in a cup of coffee. So I definitely wouldn't worry about the caffeine, especially if you're not affected by it much anyway.

Honey and green tea go great together, but I enjoy it straight. Much like coffee, it's an acquired taste. Start by steeping the tea for only 1 minute (and make sure you time it!). Too many people oversteep their tea which leads to a terrible taste. At most, green tea should be steeped for 3 minutes.

Hot or cold is up to you. Health benefits are there either way.

Spot on :D Tool the words out of my finger tips (only I prefer mine with nectar agave and orange zest :))

i think green tea has less caffeine than coffee, so i guess it's better??

hot or cold?

for cold green tea, i think you need to brew it hot first then pour it over ice or chill it so you'll get more nutrients :)
