Question

with creatine (the white powder not the pill) all that does is give u the extra amount of "energy" that is needed which you would use in a regular work out period correct? this just enables you to last longer without dying out, aswell it adds water to your muscles correct?

Yes, on a very basic level, but its not the sort of energy you will notice. You wont take some creatine and then go 'hey I feel great!'

Carbohydrate will give you the energy you need for your work out. Creatine should be taken after your workout to heal the muscle as quick as pos.

Only buy Creatine Monohydrate with an EAS lable.

think of creatine as more of an 'endurance' supplement.

basically it provides one of the essential chemicals needed for muscles to contract over and over.

you want regular creatine monohydrate that has CreaPure listed on it somewhere. its a type of processing that gives the purest monohydrate you can get. Optimum Nutrition brand is creapure processed.

Creatine is a good supplement. It will not necessarily make you last longer....so it is not an endurance enhancing supplement. More or less it helps with ATP/CP energy stores (which last about 3 seconds on a lift). Also, it has some benefits with helping with protein synthesis. It works for some and doesn't work that well with others. Creatine is pretty much creatine....it's a cheap supplement and pretty much works in most forms (as long as the company doesn't try to break the compound down).

Perhaps I was unclear in my statement. I do mean 'endurance during a set'.

Creatine and Calcium are the two primary substances used to contract the muscle. Calcium creates a bond that contracts the muscle...creatine breaks that bond which allows calcium to rebind at the next muscle bridge. as long as you have the calcium and creatine available, the muscle can keep contracting over and over.
