Sport Question on fats and fullness

Sport Fitness
I'll admit, I don't eat healthy-- not that I eat tons and tons of junk food and drink soda. I just snack almost all the time and never really bother to prepare my meals (I'm a teenager...), and therefore my choices are spur of the moment--which is a problem I'm working on. But my diet seems to be lacking in fat-- most days I'd say I hardly get up to 15g, or even 10g. I'm really just curious if this lack of fat in my diet could be causing me to never feel full. I'm sure I get plenty of fiber as I eat tons of fruits, veggies, and whole grains, so I know thats not my problem.

Any feedback would be great!

It is pretty hard to eat only 10-15g of fat in a day if you are eating a normal amount of reasonably normal food.

So what does a typical day's menu look like for you?

You could be hungry all the time because you are a teenager.

Hi HoneyGirl,

Welcome to the forum :)

I would have to agree with Tjl, it just may be, because you are young, have a high metabolism, and are growing.

And you would be surprised at some of the foods that contain fat....lol

I wouldn't think (and this is just a guess) it was because you aren't eating enough fat, maybe just that you are growing and your body needs the calories for all the energy that you are expending.

cheers,
Diane

Thanks for the replies!

I'm still struggling with an eating disorder so I've always had a hard time getting the right amount of food in... along with fat. I sometimes forget that I AM a teenager and that since I'm growing and need to eat more.

You're probably right in saying my body is telling me to eat more, but I should definitely be eating food with more umph to it.

Eating healthy is going to help give your body the nutrients it needs to survive. You are a young girl who is growing and will need to keep up your energy. The only way to do that is to provide your body with what it needs. Try to focus on eating good foods, and not on how much foods you are eating....

Good luck!

well, I'll tell ya right now... eat four servings of cottage cheese and one serving of peanut butter and you will feel full for a loooooooooooooooong time.

Fats are satisfying, keep you feeling full for a long time.

Mmm, cottage cheese is the greatest.
