Question on calories

I am having trouble reading the calories in the nutrition facts.

I bought a shaved Hickory smoked turkey breast and it says:

Amount per serving: Calories 50.

Does that mean 1 slice of turkey breast is 50 calories??

Also, I am 25, 5'10" and weigh 150. How many calories should I eat in order to gain muscle.

And what foods should I eat to get the correct amount of calories I need for my height and weight

Any in depth advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

ANother question is.....what do calories do for you when working out??

Why do you need a lot of calories when working out.....is it to build muscle?? If thats true, I thought that protein was also used to build muscle.

someone please explain

I'm trying to get a better understanding so I can eat the right foods and workout correctly.

thanks

does it say how many slices? if not, its probably one

you stay in a positive calorie balance. determine how many calories it takes to maintain your current bodyweight, then add roughly 300 more.

And what foods should I eat to get the correct amount of calories I need for my height and weight

protein
chicken, turkey, fish, lean red meat, cottage cheese, eggs, milk

carbs
brown rice, sweet potatoes or yams, whole grain bread and cereals and pastas, veggies, beans, fruits

fats
oils, flax seed, natty pb, fish
