question for researchers and/or weightloss professionals

I can only speak for myself when I say that the reason I over eat is because I like the feeling of being full. I like the weight in my stomach.

When I eat healthy food like salad, rice, or light soup. I eat about 5 servings in order to get full and get a heavy stomach. Eating 5 servings of salad covered in ranch obviously defeats the purpose. I find myself hungry about 2 hours later.

When I eat steak, I eat about a 12 ounce steak and stay satisfied for 6 - 8 hours. I would imagine this is due to the fact that steak is heavy and takes a long time to digest.

So my question is why hasn't there been any research into this? Why can we not invent a food derivative/supplement that is heavy, filling, and takes a long time to digest; at the same time contributing little calories?

They are called vegetables.

Hahhaha. Good answer Jynus. :)

I'll add this: you have to train your stomach to hold that much food. Most "normal" people (people who haven't habitually overeaten for much of their lives) feel full on much less food. But the stomach is a very accommodating organ: the more you stuff it - and overstuff it - the more it stretches.

Conversely, it is possible to eat less and shrink your stomach.
