QUESTION: Barbell Curls?

Sorry i am an absolute newbie- so this might seem a silly question but...

What are the typical amount of weights used on a barbell curl for men?

Say beginner- intermediate to advanced?

Being female im a little bit clueless in this area... have googled it, but am finding they talk more about form/technique and dont really go into amount of weights to be used...

The weight is relevant to your level of fitness. If your goal is to do 12 reps then pick a weight where you struggle to complete 10. Use that weight until you can do 12 reps the up the weight a little. 3 sets are a good start so shoot for reps of 12/10/8. Again start with a weight where you struggle to hit those numbers. Keep at it until 12/10/8 is easy the up the weight.

Thanks Trek : ) thats useful information to take note of. I guess I am just curious as to what is typical for a male- of varying degrees of fitness... i suppose i could just ask a few randoms at the gym (althought I am a bit shy!)- but i thought id ask on here with the hope of a few varying responses...

what do you normally do trek? :)

anywhere from 10lbs to 110lbs....

there is no "NORMAL"...just what YOU can do.

Here's a hint though: if its not difficult to curl the weight (without using the rest of your body to swing the weight around wildly)...its not enough weight.

I do mostly dumbbell curls, ranging 20-30lbs per arm. I'm not a very large/built male either. Pretty average.
