Question about incline workout on treadmill.....

I have been doing interval training on the treadmill, doing about 4-5 miles each time. However, I am getting a little bored and want to mix it up a bit. I read on another website that if you set the incline as high as it will go (my treadmill is 10%) and walk at a pace that you can keep up with (but not too slow) you will burn mega calories.

Has anyone done this? Any other suggestions?

Think about it this way... what gets your heart rate up? the faster your heart is going... the harder you are working...

Walking or running there are two ways to work harder:

1.) go faster

2.) Go up hill

So if you are bored with just going faster... then sure go steeper...

I have done it. I would walk on my treadmill at the steepest it could go at 3.7-4.0 mph... I did this back when I was too big to run because my knees and ankles would hurt... but the steep walking I could do without the jaring...

What is your goal? If it is body composition change, I recommend ditching the interval training and adding some HIIT. If it is cardiovascular fitness, I would ditch the treadmill all together and look for another mode of exercise to keep you happy.
