Sport question about green tea.

Hey,

When people talk about green tea and how it is good for you... are they talking about the plain ol packets? Or are the bottles with citrus added good for you as well?

usually actual tea bags because that's a more pure form.
however tea does oxidize, so you need a decent brand...usually anything sealed in individual foil packets, vs loose bags in a box.

pre-brewed tea...you have no control over how it was made..often it contains sugars and other artificial crap.
i've not done the research but I'd think it would also become somewhat oxidized being exposed to the lights in the supermarket for days on end.

Original green tea should be fine for you unless you want to fork out extra for some designer brand.

tribal,
got a link or a brand name? I've not seen anything like that in my area.

also, if the OP meant the powdered green tea packets you just add water and drink...that's not real green tea, but flavor/extract which won't have the anti-oxidants in it.

I'm drinking a cup of green tea from . The packet says Organic Fairtrade Green Tea from China rich in antioxidants.

I use a brand called "Salada" (I think - sp?). It's just individual paper wrapped tea bags in a box. I think it has some Asian writing on the box (but I don't feel like going to the pantry to look).:p

I agree with the others about the pre-bottled stuff.

ok thanks for the info guys.

Is there any hidden calories or carbs in the teabags at all? I am having a hard time getting into ketosis and am wondering if this may be the reason.

You need to look at your diet. Proper green tea has no hidden calories, look at the labels of what you've got.

I prefer green tea extract. I recommend .

Feel free to ignore this if you're only interested in the beverages.

It's just a link to a page on the manufacturer's website with a description of the product in question. It's basically a mix of CLA and Green Tea Extract in the amounts studies show are beneficial for health and fat loss. Genuine Health makes what I feel are quality products, so I have no problem recommending them.

Also, spammers don't usually have post counts above 20. :p

That is too costly for "green tea". It goes back to what I was saying about "original green tea" with antibacterial effects and antioxidants.

It's funny how you can actually learn to like things that you'd never think you could!! I drink it alot at work - hot green tea good way to get your water intake down.!:azzangel:

A lot of people seem to like their tea. Me, I'll never understand drinking a warm beverage. I like ice water. All the time. Except maybe the occasional apple cider on a freezing cold day.

Even iced tea just isn't my thing. Although, I did try this commercial stuff once, it was iced green tea sweetened with sucralose and flavored with lemon. Have to admit it was pretty good. Forget the name, though. A friend of mine got it from Costco? It came in little pepsi-shaped 600ml plastic bottles, I think.

Just depends on what best suits the OP's needs, really. There's no objective best. (That's directed mostly at you, tribal).

Green tea is fine in either liquid, capsule or raw form and it is definately good for metabolism boost and is a great antioxidant. here is a good resource on green tea

I drink at least two cups of green tea a day. I don't like it (or any other beverage) hot, so I boil water, let it cool slightly, brew the tea, and ice it down. I like it with a little bit of grapefruit juice, but I also like it with lemon juice. Since I don't really like plain green tea, I think lemon juice is a great way to give green tea some flavor without calories or artificial sweeteners.

Red (Roobios) tea is also a great drink but without caffeine. It is also high in antioxidants like green tea and has, I think, a better flavor.
