Sport Question about fibrous carbs...

Sport Fitness
I currently started cutting back my sat. fat intake (maybe only 1 or 2 grams a day). For a couple years I consumed more sat. fat and much much lower in carbs. I noticed the scale starting to go in the other direction and lets just say it wasn't in the direction I wanted it to go.

Now, I eat a lot of whole oats, flax bread, whole wheat bread, brown rice, bulgar wheat, couscous, beans, almonds & walnuts (as treats), lean poultry (chicken & fish), & tons of fruit and veggies. I usually eat 3 meals a day w\ 2 snacks or sometimes 4-5 smaller meals. Since the week before Christmas I have lost 10 pounds (yay me), but I am so scared. I am actually very satisfied with all the foold I have been eating, I don't have any cravings and am soooo happy to have my healthy carbs back into my diet. I am just scared that I may be intaking too many carbs. I know I am above my fiber quota for the day, but is it possible to consume too many carbs (not saying calorie intake high, just too many carbs)?

I should mention I workout about 30mins.-1hr a day. Usually a 30 minute walk or run followed by 30 min.s of weights, yoga, or pilates 6 days a week. I have a full-time desk job (although i find myself moving around often) and bartend part-time as well. I consume about 1200-1400 calories...somedays a bit more, some days a bit less. I just eat small amounts when I am hungry. I weigh every Saturday morning, except when it's nearing my cycle, then I skip the week (I know i may have extra water weight pounds so i stay away). I am 5'7" and 130 pounds. I can tell I lost inches (although I have yet to start measuring) and that is my goal, not so much to get to a 'goal weight'.

Ok, sorry starting to ramble so....

Does anyone have any suggestions or comments about what I am doing and if it is possible to consume too many healthy carbs if the calorie intake remains what it should be?

If you eat more carbs than is required by your baody based on your workout etc.....than the excess carbs will most likely be stored as fat so yes, you can eat too many carbs.

On a side note, usually fiborous carbs from veggies tend to have a low GI rating which will not result in a huge spike in insulin levels. This, in turn, will not promote fat storage. If you are taking in high GI carbs all day long then it could promote fat storage based on the times you are eating them, what you are eating them with, etc...

Shoot one more thing...

I should also mention I eat lowfat dairy (skim milk, lowfat cottage cheese, fat free cream cheese, etc.) and I take a 500 mls. of calcium 3 times a day in addition to my other supplements.

Thanks for the quick reply :) Ok, so is there a way for me to figure out how many carbs my body would need per day and not have them stored as fat? Is there a way to figure that # out?
